Meet the Green Mountain GRITS
Jody resides in S. Wallingford, VT with her husband Karl and their pack of nine beagles. Every weekend, while the season is open, you can find her running her dogs in the Vermont woods with her husband. She has a passion for the health and wellbeing of her beagle pack and is working toward her certification in Canine Nutrition.
Jody has been with The Orvis Company, working in the Adventures Department, for over 20 years. She learned to shoot sporting clays at Orvis Sandanona, located in Millbrook, NY. Consistently ranked one of the very best shooting grounds in the nation she is looking for any excuse to get back there more often than she does now. Jody is excited to join her good friend Amanda as chapter leaders of Green Mountain G.R.I.T.S and looks forward to spending time with like minded ladies and making new, lasting friendships along the way.
As a child, Amanda grew up shooting rifles at camp every summer, an activity that quickly became one of her favorites. Busy with other extracurriculars, she picked up a gun rather infrequently until after college. It wasn’t until Amanda began working for Orvis that she learned to fly fish and shoot sporting clays. While she admits she is by no means an expert at either she enjoys inviting new women in to the sports she loves.
In her spare time, you can find her helping to instruct fly fishing classes, shooting trap and handguns, and in the snowy Vermont winters, skiing. She enjoys all of these almost as much as she does shopping. While originally a Jersey girl, Amanda now lives in Dorset, VT in the valley of the Green Mountains.
